July 3, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Equinix (equinix.com) announced this week that it has been selected by Princeton University to host its IT operations for its PlanetLab program, a distributed testing environment for global network services, out of Equinix?s Internet Business Exchange (IBX) centers in the Silicon Valley and Washington, D.C.

The company said that by locating within the neutral environment of Equinix?s IBX centers, Princeton will enhance its connectivity to the PlanetLab network through immediate access to more than 100 network service providers serving more than 90 percent of the world?s Internet networks and users.

?The PlanetLab program provides key networking researchers with a perspective on the Internet that will enable the development and deployment of a new class of services,? said Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. ?By operating within Equinix?s Internet hubs, Princeton University is implementing a high performance connectivity solution to support its PlanetLab participation that ensures a redundant, reliable and cost-effective alternative to proprietary hosting.?
