Equinix Hosts Dow Jones Application

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — News corporation company Dow Jones & Company (www.dowjones.com) and data center operator Equinix (www.equinix.com) announced on Wednesday the availability of Dow Jones’ algorithmic and trading products in Equinix’s Chicago-1 International Business Exchange data center.

Beginning December 1, Dow Jones Elementized News Feed customers will see tangible benefits of the move to the Equinix facility, as they will experience increased speeds that will enable them to receive market-moving news within milliseconds.

Operating within Equinix’s Chicago financial ecosystem will significantly reduce latency by bringing customers within immediate proximity to the data source. This latest Chicago deployment joins other Dow Jones colocation offerings already operational in the New York City area and in Washington, DC, to provide additional space, greater bandwidth and faster execution.

The availability of Dow Jones at the Equinix center, which is a strategic proximity hub for the financial trading community, will enable other capital market participants operating within the facility to obtain direct, low-latency access to Dow Jones Elementized News Feed services.

Additionally, it will provide a scalable, high-performance and low-latency platform for current and potential Dow Jones customers to access the company’s services.

“Speed is paramount in today’s financial markets,” says Steve Smith, president and CEO of Equinix. “By operating at Equinix, Dow Jones can provide its customers with critical news and information services with the lowest possible latency, providing them with a competitive advantage in developing their trading strategies.”

The Dow Jones Elementized News Feed provides a news data feed and archives for automated trading and analysis, delivering global economic indicators, key treasury and energy data and breaking corporate news.

Equinix provides global data center services to global enterprises, content and financial companies, and network service providers. The company operates 41 International Business Exchange data centers across 18 markets in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

The past month has been a busy one for Equinix, as the company recently launched a new corporate brand initiative that coincides with its 10th anniversary and expanding global operations, and announced plans to build two new data centers in London and Singapore.
