Ensim Launches AD Report Manager

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Optimizing its Active Directory (or AD) management, software developer Ensim Corporation (www.ensim.com) has launched its Unify Report Manager, helping administrators generate a wide variety of reports on AD objects, including users, groups and contacts.

Letting administrators assign policies, deploy software, and apply updates across an organization, Microsoft’s Active Directory is a central point for an organization’s software infrastructure. Primarily used in Windows environments, Active Directory stores information and settings in a central database.

According to Ensim’s Tuesday announcement, its new Ensim Unify Report Manager provides a robust reporting framework to quickly take AD object snapshots to help users plan processes and maintenance procedures, revealing non-compliant objects, and helping administrators enhance their standards and policies. By isolating AD misconfiguration, Report Manager prevents downtime and reduces maintenance overhead.

“In addition to achieving compliance objectives, administrators who run regular reports on Active Directory with Unify Report Manager, will be less susceptible to downtime and misconfiguration as a result of human error,” said Scott Young, vice president of marketing and product management at Ensim Corporation. “In the absence of a centralized management solution it is almost impossible to enforce standardization across the AD forest to meet compliance goals – with this product, our customers will be able to save time and increase efficiency by reducing unplanned downtime.”

With pre-configured reports and the ability to easily configure custom reports, Unify Report Manager can be used as part of a compliance audit toolset to identify objects that do not meet regulatory requirements or security policies. Reports are available through a web-based interface and can plug into any web-part enabled portal.

Ensim Unify Report Manager is available at no charge until March 31st, 2009, when it will be priced at $15,000 per administrator.
