(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet security solution provider Comodo (www.comodo.com) reported this week that domain name wholesaler eNom (www.enom.com) has begun offering Comodo brand SSL certificates in place of its Secure Business Services range of certificates.

Effective immediately, according to the press release, eNom’s SBS Instant, SBS Secure, SBS Secure Plus, SBS EV and SBS SGC EV certificates will be replaced on the company’s eNom Central and BulkRegister services with Comodo Essential SSL, Comodo Instant SSL, Comodo Premium SSL Wildcard, Comodo EV SSL Certificate and Comodo EV SSL SGC.

According to eNom, the SBS brand of certificates was a white-labeled Comodo product offered by eNom. The change-over to the Comodo-branded product was a decision based on eNom not wanting to build a business around an SSL brand. It’s an understandable decision, particularly given the role of trust in an SSL brand to begin with.

“At eNom, we recognize that guaranteeing online security and building trust with consumers is more important than ever for online businesses. That’s why we are committed to continually offering our resellers and their customers the most respected and well recognized products,” said Chris Sheridan, vice president of sales at eNom, quoted in the press release.

Sheridan appeared in a video feature interview with WHIR TV at HostingCon 2010 in August, during which he discussed the company’s work around the launch of the .co domain, among other things.

“Online consumers demand security and if not adequately provided will vote with their feet – or rather their mice – and leave a website. Comodo offers reassurance to those consumers and we’re excited to be able to do so through eNom’s ever expanding range of resellers,” said Melih Abdulhayoglu, chief executive officer and chief security architect of Comodo, also in the press release.
