eNom Acquires BulkRegister
July 26, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Domain registrar eNom (enom.com) announced on Wednesday it has acquired the business and operations of BulkRegister (bulkregister.com), adding an additional 1.5 million domain names and 35,000 bulk membership customers to its portfolio.
With more than 6.8 million domain names on its platform, the combined company has surpassed Network Solutions to become the second-largest registrar in the world, behind Go Daddy, according to Name Intelligence (nameintelligence.com).
“We are excited about this significant and synergistic addition to our domain platform,” says Paul Stahura, founder and CEO of eNom. “Both eNom and BulkRegister have built up strong, loyal and successful customer bases, by providing great tools, high quality service and a solid technology platform. The combination of the two companies is a natural fit.”
ENom’s parent company, eNom Ventures, was acquired earlier this year by Demand Media. The purchase of BulkRegister further expands the size and capabilities of Demand Media’s new media platform. Demand Media also owns hundreds of thousands of other domains and niche content Web sites, including eHow.com.
