(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — German email security solutions provider eleven announced on Monday that phishing emails are increasingly being targeted regionally.
According to the report, German-language phishing emails that target customers of German financial institutions tricked users into entering their account or credit card information on phishing websites. In November 2011, victims included Deutsche Bank customers.
Event-oriented spam dominated inboxes in November 2011, as well as spam advertising for online casinos where 69.1 percent of all spam emails focused on this subject.
eleven says that India is the most prevalant source of space and was responsible for 11.6 percent of spam emails in November, followed by Brazil and Vietnam. Germany came in 30th place, wile the US came in 14th place at 1.3 percent.
The most prevalent source of malware in November was China with 18.5 percent of known viruses and the US with 20.2 percent of all virus outbreaks, eleven says. According to the report the malware outbreaks originating in Austria
In November the percentage of all spam email was 90.2 percent, an insignificant decrease from October when the percentage of all email that is spam hit the 90.3 percent mark.
