Eircom Signs Hostopia at Dublin Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Ireland-based telecommunications provider Eircom (www.eircom.net) announced on Friday it has signed web hosting provider Hostopia (www.hostopia.com) as a tenant in its $130 million managed services data center in Clonshaugh, Dublin.

The deal follows last November’s news of Digital Realty Trust signing a major lease with Eircom at the Clonshaugh data center.

This latest lease agreement will see Eircom deliver comprehensive data hosting services and managed high-speed Internet connectivity for Hostopia.

“We have very strong ambitions to aggressively drive business across the EU and Ireland seemed the obvious location to explore,” says Colin Campbell, CEO of Hostopia. “From the outset we liked Eircom’s style of business. It’s clear they’re not a company with a one size fits all approach — partnership is key for us and clearly it’s the same for them. There was an obvious willingness on their part to be flexible and adapt to our changing needs. Eircom’s solution provides us with a range of connectivity options and resilience guarantees but most importantly we have scalability options to facilitate our growth plans.”

Eircom is providing Hostopia with a caged environment, rack infrastructure and cable management.

The Clonshaugh facility doubles the company’s data center capacity.

The facility is connected to Eircom’s existing data centers in Citywest and Crown Alley, Dublin over Eircom’s high speed IP network.

The company’s customers include Department of Transport, Phonovation, and AXA Insurance.

Owned by Deluxe Corporation, Hostopia has data centers in Toronto, Miramichi, New Brunswick and Nikolayev, Ukraine.
