Ecommerce application provider Ecwid announced on Tuesday that its integrated Ecwid solution is now available for WordPress.com Business users.
Used by over 400,000 retailers, Ecwid is distributed through a network of partners, and is also used by retailers on Facebook.
This announcement marks the first time that ecommerce will be available to WordPress.com Business users. Prior to this integration, Ecwid only provided a plugin for WordPress.org websites.
WordPress.com Business was introduced nearly a year ago as a new hosting package for small businesses. The package includes live support, unlimited premium themes and unlimited storage for $299 per year, as well as all the features included in its Premium Bundle: a custom domain, advanced design tools and web fonts, video and audio uploads, and no ads.
Ecwid has successfully targeted SMBs through its Facebook integration, as well as its partnership last year with website builder Wix.com. Now, with WordPress.com Business integration, Ecwid has opened itself up to an even larger SMB base, a key market for ecommerce application adoption.
“We are thrilled to partner with the WordPress.com team to bring full-featured ecommerce to its Business users,”Jim O’Hara, president of Ecwid, Inc. said. “WordPress.com is a perfect solution for small businesses looking to establish a world-class web presence, and its integration with Ecwid now enables users to simply and seamlessly add a world-class online sales capability as well.”
With Ecwid, merchants using WordPress.com Business will be able to operate storefronts across multiple sites, and manage them from a single control panel.
“With this partnership with Ecwid, we are able to offer our Business users sleek and stylish integration for ecommerce,” Min Wei, director of platform partnerships, Automattic said. “The Ecwid team is providing our users key e-commerce features while keeping the setup super clean and simple.”
