Easyspace Launches Ugly Site Contest

December 12, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK-based Web hosting provider Easyspace (easyspace.com) announced on Wednesday that it has launched a competition offering a free website makeover worth £3,000 for the worst website.

Easyspace says it is offering four clients the chance to trade in their old websites for a brand new one with entrants being asked to explain why their website needs to be redesigned. The entries will be posted on Easyspace’s website where visitors will be able to vote for the ugliest design. The website with the most votes will receive a complete redesign at the value of £3,000. More than 500 entries have been received since the competition was launched on Monday, says the company.

“Virtually every business has a website these days and they play a vital part in marketing and sales. However, many firms’ sites are quite old now and often are very basic, are not taking advantage of new technology or are just plain dull looking,” says Brian Tait, online marketing manager at Easyspace. “The importance of a good-looking, easy-to-use website cannot be underestimated which is why we decided to give our customers the opportunity to have their website completely redesigned. We’ve been amazed by the response so far.”

Submissions must be received via the online form on Easyspace’s website no later than December 31. The four finalists will be selected by judges and placed online, with the winner chosen by public vote on January 18, 2008.
