December 4, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator Baltimore Technology Park (baltimoretechnologypark.com) announced on Monday that digital media service provider EastBay Media (eastbaymedia.com) has chosen BTP to house its primary data center and to augment its bandwidth.
Columbia, Maryland based EastBay Media provides streaming audio and video, webcasting, podcasting, Web hosting, content delivery and production services. Its clients include federal government agencies, state and local governments, large financial institutions, major corporations and educational institutions. To meet its growing demand, EastBay Media migrated its data center to BTP, securing more bandwidth.
“Our bandwidth and uptime needs are extremely demanding because our customers rely on us to consistently deliver thousands of audio and video clips to any size audience,” says Brad Pumphrey, founder and president of EastBay Media. “Thus, our data center and bandwidth needs far exceed those of most companies. After a rigorous due diligence process, we chose Baltimore Technology Park due to its fast connections to our other network nodes, redundant systems, available room to scale and their willingness to work with our specific needs.”
BTP recently announced another new customer win and launched a $3 million build-out to meet current demand and anticipated growth. The facility is in the process of an 11,000 square-foot build-out to create room for an additional 250 server cabinets and more space for cages and suites. From that total, 6,000 square feet will be raised flooring available for colocation, while the remaining 5,000 square feet will be designed for employee and client workspace, kitchen, break and conference rooms.
