April 4, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet service provider EarthLink (earthlink.net) announced on Tuesday it has selected advertising and marketing agency Hauser Group (hausergroup.com) to help launch and rollout the company’s citywide Wi-Fi networks in markets across the United States.
Under the partnership, Hauser Group will provide strategic thinking and apply breakthrough tactical approaches that include a media buy that literally uses the whole city as a communications canvas to assist EarthLink in building awareness and driving subscriptions for its new services. The company says marketing firm Direct Partners will continue to handle EarthLink’s direct marketing efforts.
“From a strong strategic approach to local activation tactics, Hauser Group brings its soup-to-nuts marketing skill set to EarthLink Municipal Networks,” says Janet West, VP of access sales and marketing for EarthLink Municipal Networks. “As the leading provider of municipal Wi-Fi networks, we are looking for the top shelf marketing support that the Hauser Group delivers.”
EarthLink has recently been striking deals with several metropolitans across the US to provide an innovative Wi-Fi mesh network with affordable, high-speed Internet access for residents, businesses and visitors of the participating cities. The network is slated to be launched in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New Orleans, Louisiana, Alexandria, Virginia and Milpitas and Anaheim, California. The company is also finalizing agreements with the cities of Pasadena and San Francisco, California and Atlanta, Georgia.
EarthLink also recently announced it has upgraded its business Web hosting and email platforms, giving customers more control and flexibility in managing their Web presenceĀ and business email accounts.
