E-Commerce Competition Growing

February 17, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Competition among online retailers is rising as consumers become increasingly knowledgeable about online shopping, according to results of a recent syndicated research study conducted by Internet performance monitoring firm Keynote Systems (keynote.com).

Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and Circuit City Web sites were ranked as the top three providers of online shopping experience for consumers, with eBay and Land’s End following in fourth and fifth positions. The findings are based on research with 2,000 customers as they interacted with leading retail Web sites.

In addition to traditional opinion data, Keynote’s proprietary research technology gathers detailed qualitative and behavioural data as these customers performed tasks at each site. The top sites found in Keynote Customer Experience Rankings performed best, in aggregate, in more than 250 measured metrics and the indices compiled from these metrics.
