DRT and Emerson Host Efficiency Seminars

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Business continuity solutions provider Emerson Network Power (www.emersonnetworkpower.com) and wholesale data center provider Digital Realty Trust (www.digitalrealtytrust.com) are teaming up for a five-stop world tour to educate data center professionals about energy efficiency-related cooling and measurement tactics that can be used to reduce operating costs.

According to a Digital Realty Trust and Emerson’s joint announcement this week, the free, one-day seminars will feature executives from both companies and are designed for data center decision makers, operational personnel, and consulting and mechanical engineers.

Dates and locations include New York City March 3, Dallas March 5, London April 21, Paris May 26, and San Francisco July 16. Presentations will focus on prioritization of cost-saving decisions about energy use and critical resource constraints without compromising data center availability or flexibility.

Attendees will learn how to achieve quantifiable savings and return on their technology investments by incorporating new technologies and best practices, and a range of other topics.

“Attending one of these free seminars is an important first step data center professionals can take to create a significant dent in their data center energy bill,” Digital Realty Trust chief technology officer and seminar presenter Jim Smith said in a statement. “Along with Emerson Network Power, we’ve seen end users who have implemented the practical actions outlined in the seminar along their journey to reducing energy costs by more than 50 percent while improving system flexibility and maintaining availability.”

Smith was a major driver of Digital Realty Trust’s completion of the industry’s first LEED Gold certified data center. Emerson Network Power’s Liebert backup power and cooling technologies are used throughout this and other Digital Realty Trust facilities.

Digital Realty Trust was responsible for a number of industry firsts for green data centers, including building the first LEED Gold data center, and being the first company to report PUE energy efficiency data about its data center facilities, as well as becoming the first real estate company to become a contributor member of The Green Grid (www.thegreengrid.org).
