(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Recognizing that social networks vary in size, online and hosting services provider Dotster (www.dotster.com) has expanded its user-community platform, giving companies of any size the ability to reap the benefits of online communities and next-generation social networking at four new price points.
According to Dotster’s Wednesday announcement, Dotster has repackaged its Dotster Connect social networking service to offer four redesigned levels of service starting at $199 per month. Opening up its Connect service line to a wider range of clientele, including small businesses, Dotster Connect promises to help businesses reduce marketing expenses, increase productivity, lower recruiting and training costs, shorten development time and reduce the number of customer support calls.
“Online user communities that include social networking and social media applications are becoming a vital part of many corporate web strategies,” Dotster online communities director Catherine Brown said in a statement. “The additional levels of service we’ve added to Dotster Connect will give every company, from small, independent businesses and individuals through enterprise-level corporations a chance to engage their customers, prospects and employees in a way that creates tangible business results.”
Formerly its “SMB” Dotster Connect package, the new “Silver” plan is targeted at small businesses, but features many new capabilities only offered in the higher-end plans, such as member profiles, home pages, “friending” and content submission tools, as well as a powerful control panel and other administrative features.
As the next step up, the Gold package is for mid-sized communities and includes forum, newsletter and video capability, as well as greater design flexibility. The Platinum package offers additional feature sets for applications such as Flash, mobile integration, instant messaging and widget support.
The highest level of service is the Dotster Connect Enterprise package, designed to establish a large, featureârich user community. It includes more than 400 features including multi-language and sub-site capabilities, as well as complete customization options and integration with existing content management systems.
“Dotster is deeply committed to providing the online tools and advice that our customers need to be successful in their business, and Dotster Connect is one of these important tools,” Dotster chief executive officer Clint Page said in a statement. “With Dotster Connect, our customers can experience increased customer loyalty, reduced costs and improved [return on investment], while economically adding capabilities as their business and communities grow.”
