DotNetNuke 5.3 Offers New Content Approval Workflows, Ribbon Control Panel and Editing Tools

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In an effort to address the needs of today’s business-critical websites, the company behind DotNetNuke, the most widely adopted Web Content Management Platform for Microsoft .NET, has released DotNetNuke Professional Edition 5.3, which includes new tools for managing business-critical websites including page-level content change approval workflows, new tools for editing pages, and a new ribbon bar control panel.

According to DotNetNuke Corp. (www.dotnetnuke.com) in its announcement this week, the DotNetNuke platform, which is the core of the DotNetNuke Community, Professional and Elite Editions, which all includes new features such as a sophisticated taxonomy system, new messaging capability with a new API, and an enhanced social media user profile feature for richer online user experiences.

DotNetNuke Community Edition 5.3 includes a sophisticated taxonomy system that lets a website administrator create an unlimited number of vocabularies of terms to associate to pages or modules in a site. These attributes are stored in a common content store that provides new ways to aggregate and publish content. 

There are also new advanced social networking features based around a rich user profile that lets users easily upload photos to easily personalize their identities. Also, the new message repository and API allows messages to be delivered in a variety of ways including real-time and batch. An inbox provides users with a view of the messages they have received and sent, as well as administrative tools to manage the messages.

The premium editions of DotNetNuke feature additions such as custom workflows for administrators, giving them an unlimited number of states and reviewers. There is also a ribbon bar control panel that gives content contributors more editing options in a more convenient format. There is also a “My Editable Pages” feature that gives users links to all the pages and modules in the site that a content contributor has permission to modify.
