Dotster Adds Blog Tool to Web Hosting

October 6, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Domain registrar and Web hosting provider Dotster (dotster.com) announced this week that it had signed an agreement with DotPH Technologies to provide a blog creation tool for its customers.

 

Doster will combine the Calliope blog creation application (calliopeblogs.com) with a new Web hosting package. The company says it chose Calliope because the interface is simple enough for even beginners to understand.

 

The interface includes blog entry draft saving, submission via email, photo and video gallery posting capabilities, RSS syndication, third party instant message integration, a Design Editor for customization of look and feel and the ability to add and manage comments, categories and tagboards. The Pay4Access feature enables bloggers to earn revenue from content they upload to their blogs.

 

"Our hosting packages have always included complementary blogging capabilities, but users needed some knowledge of a coding language like PHP or ASP to take advantage of them," says Erin O'Connell, senior marketing manager for premium managed services at Dotster. "By offering Calliope as an option, every Dotster customer can participate in the self-publishing revolution with an individual, highly customized blog."
