May 8, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Intel Online Services (Intelonlineservices.com), the Internet services wing of chip giant Intel, said today it had been selected by Discovery Communications Inc. to provide managed Web hosting services for the company’s international Web sites and Web applications.
DCI, a media and entertainment firm, encompasses brands such as the Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet.
“As DCI’s global business continues to grow in reach and scope, we look to work with technology companies with worldwide operations and flexible service offerings,” said Vivian Lugo, Vice President of International Systems for DCI. “Intel has the technical expertise we need to help us manage our business-critical applications.”
Under the agreement, Intel Online Services will manage and monitor network infrastructure, storage and disaster recovery capabilities worldwide for DCI through the company’s AppChoice Managed Hosting Service. AppChoice allows clients to customize server hardware, software and hosting configurations to meet the performance and availability requirements they require.
