February 7, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider DiscountASP.NET (discountasp.net) announced on Thursday it has integrated SmarterTools’ (smartertools.com) SmarterMail APIs into its open control panel. The open control panel Web service API library enables DiscountASP.NET customers to develop their own Web, desktop, or mobile applications that interface directly with their Web hosting account.
“SmarterTools already provides powerful APIs out-of the-box with their SmarterMail product, so naturally we wanted to integrate them within our open control panel framework,” says Takeshi Eto, VP marketing at DiscountASP.NET. “Our vision is to continue to expand the Control Panel API and offer our customers the choice and flexibility to manage their hosting presence either using our hosted control panel application or through web services and customized user-driven solutions.”
The SmarterMail API integration will enable DiscountASP.NET customers to retrieve email account lists, modify passwords, and create and delete email accounts through Web services without having to access the hosting control panel or the SmarterMail webmail client.
Using the control panel and a unique authentication key, DiscountASP.NET customers can activate access to the API library. A sandbox Key is also provided so customers can test their applications without the risk of making changes to their hosting account.
