(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — ASP.NET Web host DiscountASP.NET (www.discountasp.net) has launched a Software-as-a-Service solution for Team Foundation Server Basic hosting, which provides source code version control and bug tracking.

Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010 is a collaboration platform that is at the core of Microsoft’s application lifecycle management solution. According to DiscountASP.NET’s Tuesday announcement, DiscountASP.NET’s hosted TFS solution lets Microsoft developers use familiar Visual Studio development tools to manage source control and track bugs, whether the developer works alone or with many developers.

DiscountASP.NET said its SaaS-based TFS hosting solution lets developers save money and time by using a hosted solution for source control, freeing up their resources to focus on developing code.

“Our business focus has always been about providing hosting services to meet the needs of .NET developers,” DiscountASP.NET marketing and business development vice president Takeshi Eto said in a statement. “So we are very excited to expand our service portfolio to include TFS hosting to help .NET developers manage their code development. With our TFS hosting service, developers can save money and time associated with on-premise source management and focus on what they do best – develop code.”

Starting at $20 per month per user, DiscountASP.NET’s TFS Basic Hosting service comes with one collection developers use to manage unlimited projects. Customers have access to a TFS control panel to manage their account, billing and TFS users and group members.

“Developers are increasingly interested in cloud-hosted source-code control, bug tracking and collaboration tools to improve productivity and reduce costs,” Microsoft developer marketing senior director Dave Mendlen stated. “By offering Team Foundation Server as a hosted service, DiscountASP.NET is able to provide attractive developer productivity options to its customers by simplifying the deployment and operational tasks and letting them focus on writing code.”

TFS customers gets access to a control panel to manage their account, billing and TFS users and group members. Further, Eto added, “Our TFS hosting solution is a completely separate service, so you don’t have to be a DiscountASP.NET web hosting customer to take advantage of TFS”.

DiscountASP.NET is, in fact, kicking off the launch of TFS Hosting by offering current Web hosting customers a free 30-day trial with no setup fee deal for a limited time to try out TFS. Customers can get more information about this special launch deal by accessing their hosting Control Panel Marketplace.
