DirectI Wins Lawsuit Filed by Dodora

June 16, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Domain registrar and Web host DirectI (directi.com) said Tuesday that it had won a lawsuit brought against it by fellow registrar Dodora Unified Communications (dodora.net). The charges were dismissed in Federal court in Massachusetts.

Dodora made three claims against DirectI, alleging that it had taken illegitimate control over the Dodora’s domain names when the company was under receivership after having litigation filed against it in Texas. DirectI said it was simply following its obligations to its contractor, Michael Bernstein, the receiver appointed in the Texas litigation, who controlled Dodora from June to December of 2004.

Divyank Turakhia, president and director of DirectI, says the company actually helped Dodora when it was under receivership, managing and supporting its customers and resellers. DirectI says it also provided registrar management software powered by its LogixBoxes consulting division.

“We have always practiced firm business ethics and values,” says Turakhia. “We were disappointed when a fellow registrar filed a lawsuit against us without any foundation or foothold to the charges. We respect the jury and the court for taking a fair and just decision.”
