ICT services and solutions provider Dimension Data announced on Tuesday it has launched its new cloud readiness service designed to help organizations assess their ability and preparedness for migrating applications to the cloud.

The new service comes a few weeks after Dimension Data announced it consolidated its cloud hosting brands, OpSource and BlueFire, under the Dimension Data brand.

With so many enterprises still being reluctant to adopt cloud services, web hosts and service providers have an opportunity to offer a service that helps organizations with building an effective cloud migration strategy.

This kind of a service can help bring in new business and increase their sales from cloud computing services.

Dimension Data’s approach addresses readiness across four critical aspects of cloud computing including business alignment, organization, infrastructure and applications.

The company’s consulting team has expertise in networking, virtualization, security, data centers, application migration, software-as-a-service and cloud technologies, making them knowledgeable in determining a cloud roadmap to help organizations benefit from cloud computing more immediately.

“The lack of a long-term cloud strategy can result in costly rearchitecture and reintegration measures down the line,” said Steve Nola, CEO of Dimension Data’s Cloud Solutions Business Unit. “Dimension Data brings a rich heritage in building multifaceted enterprise IT and hybrid cloud solutions, enabling organizations to build a cloud roadmap that preserves business agility and operational efficiencies even as their business needs evolve.”

Dimension Data’s cloud readiness service is comprised of four individual components. The first is the Online Cloud Self-Assessment, a web-based online assessment tool that includes an in-depth survey that determines the cloud readiness level and recommends specific actions to address gaps.

The Cloud Readiness Workshop involves a half-day session with Dimension Data’s Consulting & Professional Services team.

During this workshop, the team identifies the organization’s key objectivies and needs to ultimately develop a detailed 12 to 24 month cloud roadmap that is designed to fit the organization’s exact needs.

Cloud Readiness Assessment is a comprehensive review of a company’s organizational structure, operations and technology.

This assessment is processed over a two week period with a focus on developing a plan that would move a significant portion of a client’s IT environment to the cloud.

Finally, Cloud Total Cost of Ownership is designed to help clients demonstrate financial justification for an investment in Dimension Data cloud services and communicate the value proposition for these services.

The cloud readiness service provides organizations with an accurate assessment of the current status in their cloud deployment cycle while providing a long-term strategy for moving applications to the cloud.

Dimension Data has quickly been expanding its cloud services to emerging global markets, including India, Amsterdam and Sydney.
