Digital West Networks announced on Thursday that it is expanding its network to the East Coast with a new point of presence in the New York metropolitan area through Equinix’s NY2 data center.

Digital West Networks, a provider of connectivity, colocation and cloud services, has existing data centers in three California locations, including 11 Great Oaks in San Jose, One Wilshire in Los Angeles, and its own facility in San Luis Obispo.

With its fourth POP, the company will be able to serve its current customers, and offer new clients colocation, IP transit and VPN solutions.

Digital West expects its expansion to offer new peering opportunities, which will allow it to exchange traffic strategically with East Coast networks.

“We’re already looking into our London connection but our next turn-up will be across the Pacific, bringing our Sydney, Australia POP online in January,” Tim Williams, CEO and founder of Digital West said.

The East Coast expansion will mirror its West Coast connectivity model, Williams said, and its “new POP will allow ease of access to internationally-connected coastal regions across the globe.”
