Digital Realty Trust Goes Green

May 22, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator Digital Realty Trust (digitalrealtytrust.com) announced on Tuesday that it has joined The Green Grid (thegreengrid.org), a global consortium of companies dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and computing ecosystems.

As a contributor member, Digital Realty Trust’s participation in The Green Grid will focus on collaborating with other member companies to help establish best practices in data center design and operations to maximize energy efficiency, says the company.

“With industry leading companies like Digital Realty Trust joining The Green Grid we can more effectively address the growing data center energy efficiency challenges the industry faces now,” says Jim Pappas, a director of The Green Grid. “We are pleased to have Digital Realty Trust become involved as their expertise in creating cost-effective data center solutions is vital to our mission.”

Digital Realty Trust is one of many companies, which are rapidly joining environmentally friendly groups like The Green Grid in an effort to reduce carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency in the data center. Some other recent members to The Green Grid include Novell, 365 Main, Brocade and Rackspace Managed Hosting.

Digital Realty Trust also recently revealed new research data about emerging data center trends in the IT industry.
