Digital Realty Trust Buys Two Data Centers for $50M

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator Digital Realty Trust (www.digitalrealtytrust.com) announced on Monday it has completed the acquisition of two fully leased data center properties for $50.3 million.

The first property is 2950 Zanker Road, located in San Jose, which totals about 69,700 rentable square feet.

The building is 100 percent leased on a long-term basis to a major telecommunications company whose name was not disclosed.

The second property is 900 Dorothy Drive, located in Richardson, Texas, is close to the company’s major redevelopment project, Datacenter Park Dallas.

The building totals over 56,000 rentable square feet and is 100 percent leased on a long-term basis to another major telecommunications company.

Digital Realty did not disclose the company’s name but mentions that it is “serving as one of its primary switch facilities for the southwest region.”

“The addition of these facilities to our operating portfolio expands our footprint in two top-tier datacenter markets and further demonstrates our ability to source and complete the acquisition of high quality assets with credit tenants at attractive yields,” says Scott Peterson, senior vice president of acquisitions at Digital Realty Trust.

The buys add to a series of data centers acquisitions that Digital Realty has announced this year.

In June, Digital Realty purchased a five-property data center portfolio located in California, Arizona and Virginia from Rockwood Capital/365 Main for $725 million.

Then earlier this year, it purchased three data centers in Santa Clara, including two shell buildings at 3105 and 3115 Alfred Street, and another shell building located at 1725 Comstock Street.
