According to the report?s findings, content management services represent an attractive growth segment for the IT services industry despite only moderate growth in 2002. IDC?s five-year forecast anticipates that worldwide content management services spending will increase to more than $7.5 billion in 2007, with a compound annual growth rate of 12.8 percent.

“Growth in the content management services market outpaces the IT services market as a whole,” said Ellen Julian, vice president for Content Management Services and Services Vertical Views research at IDC. “This is because managing content chaos has become more strategic within the customers’ organizational priorities due to new compliance rules and threats of litigation because of the corporate ethics crisis.”
