Degree Controls Joins The Green Grid

February 7, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center cooling solutions provider Degree Controls (degreec.com) announced its membership in The Green Grid (thegreengrid.org/), a global consortium of more than 150 companies focused on advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems.

DegreeC says it has strived to increase awareness of the issue of data center energy consumption, and in 2007, held a number of seminars focused on reducing data center energy consumption. The company has also contributed to the Environmental Protection Agency’s report on “Server and Data Center Efficiency” and has been an active member of The Alliance to Save Energy.

“With data center energy consumption already consuming two percent of the nation’s electrical energy and on track to doubling in the next five years, The Green Grid is serving the important purpose of bringing the industry together to help solve this growing problem,” says Eric Birch, executive VP and GM of DegreeC’s data center division. “DegreeC is proud to be a member.”

Since launching its sophisticated cooling system, AdaptivCool, DegreeC says it has helped many corporations and universities reduce their data center energy consumption and their energy costs. AdaptivCool can decrease data center energy consumption by up to thirty percent, says DegreeC.
