Defining Cloud Valuations, with NCC International

NCC International president and WHIR blogger Tom Millitzer.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In the final cloud trends track session of day one at HostingCon 2010, NCC International president and WHIR blogger Tom Millitzer spoke about cloud mergers and acquisitions in his presentation, “Defining Cloud Valuations”.

He began by talking about how his presentation would not attempt to define the cloud, but rather, learn how it fits in with the rest of the hosting industry today.

More specifically, how it relates to valuating a cloud company’s worth.

Millitzer analyzed recent transactions and how cloud hosting fits into the market in the future.

He looked at Visi’s buy of telephone company TDS in its transition from ISP to hosting provider, Savvis’s acquisition of Fusepoint, and Cincinnati Bell’s buy of CyrusOne, pointing out their respective valuations and EBITDA.

Millitzer closed his presentation by stating that there are a lot of exciting opportunities in the cloud market that will lead to tremendous growth.
