DDOS protection services provider Prolexic announced Thursday a range of updates and enhancements to its control panel, PLXportal.
The PLXportal update allows customers to view attack developments event-by-event after they have been mitigated, providing a greater understanding of the attack, and hopefully revealing the vulnerability which was exploited.
PLXportal also now provides constant updates on global attacker behavior and DDOS threat information, real-time views of network activity, and a new SSL manager to securely manage certificates and keys.
The new control panel provides a big picture view of network activities and anomalies, and allows customers to drill down to view specific metrics. It is also optimized for mobile devices.
“This latest iteration of PLXportal provides our customers with the broadest and deepest attack forensics and network data in the industry that is updated in real-time, which is unprecedented,” said Stuart Scholly, president at Prolexic. “Because of this unique level of visibility, we can work more efficiently with our clients to detect and mitigate DDoS attacks faster. Seconds count when defending against DDoS attacks.”
DDoS attacks have been increasing, as Prolexic’s own Q2 report suggested in July. Arbor networks Q2 report came to similar conclusions, and Prolexic also warned last month of DDoS attacks which in fact provide cover for theft from customer accounts.
Prolexic raised $30 million in July to expand its protection centers as another part of its ongoing bid to stay ahead of DDoS competition from Verisign, CloudFlare, Black Lotus, and others.
Prolexic’s control panel update addresses possible ease-of-use and convenience concerns, while its mitigation of a gigantic 167Gbps attack in May of this year demonstrated the veteran company’s downtime avoidance capabilities.
