DataSite Orlando Completes SAS 70 Type II Audit

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator DataSite Orlando (www.datasiteorlando.com) announced on Monday that it has received SAS 70 Type II designation after an extensive audit by Ernst & Young.

The announcement comes on the heels of DataSite Orlando’s recent appointment of industry veteran Loren Kerzner as the facility’s general manager, a position where he oversees the facility’s operations and critical systems management, customer installations and operations support, as well as capital project management and security protocol adherence.

DataSite Orlando opened the 130,000 square-foot facility almost exactly one year ago.

By completing the SAS 70 Type II audit, DataSite Orlando proves that its processes, procedures and controls have been formally evaluated and tested by an independent auditing and accounting firm.

The DataSite Orlando controls that were examined and evaluated related to security monitoring, change management, service delivery, support services, backup and environmental controls, and logical and physical access.

“DataSite Orlando is focused on developing and refining systems that fully secure our service delivery infrastructure,” says Rob Wilson, director of sales and marketing for DataSite Orlando. “Our clients are faced with increasing compliance requirements and the SAS 70 examination is an important factor as they evaluate outsourcing their IT infrastructure.”

A SAS 70 Type II report includes the description of controls and detailed testing of the design and operating effectiveness of the organization’s controls.

New York Internet, REDPLAID Managed Hosting and Host.net have all recently completed their SAS 70 Type II audits as well.
