Datapipe Tops Netcraft's June Hosting Site Uptime List

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Responding to each and every request from Netcraft’s performance collector without fail for the entire month, managed services provider DataPipe (www.datapipe.net) had the most reliable hosting company site in the Internet security and analytics provider’s monthly survey.

According to Netcraft’s June 2009 survey of hosting company sites, four companies among the top ten, including DataPipe, run their sites on FreeBSD. Three other companies run their sites on Linux, one on Windows Server 2003, and the other operating systems are unknown.

June marks the second month DataPipe has been the most reliable site, having topped the chart in April. DataPipe serves more than 1,500 customers between six data centres and eight business office locations in the US, the UK and China.

Netcraft’s ranking system is based on the number of failed requests, with results averaged over each day. According to Netcraft, the percentage of failed requests is more important to customers than shortest periods of outage, because it gives a pointer to the reliability of their routing.

In Netcraft’s May report, New York Internet (www.nyi.net), INetU (www.inetu.net) and pair Networks (www.pair.com) were all tied for the most reliable hosting company sites. In June, however, NYI dropped to second, INetU to seventh, and pair Networks to 12th place.
