Data Storage and Security Firm Relocates to Savvis Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Disaster recovery and data storage and security firm SafeData (www.safedata.net) announced on Monday that it has relocated its Boston data center to the Savvis (www.savvis.net) BO3 data center located in Waltham, Massachusetts, a SAS 70 certified facility with room for SafeData to grow.

The news is, in some ways, a fairly straightforward customer win for Savvis, and relevant in all the ways such a customer win is usually relevant – as evidence of the value placed on the facilities by prospective customers. This customer is perhaps particularly notable for the fact that the security and reliability of the backing infrastructure is an important component of the customer’s product – in this case data security and disaster recovery solutions.

According to the announcement, Savvis’s BO3 data center provides world-class power management, HVAC, fire detection and suppression, seismic engineering, physical security and internet connectivity. SafeData syas the facility’s SAS 70 Type II designation was a significant factor in the choice.

“The SAS 70 certification guarantees that the proper internal controls are in place to ensure the reliable, high availability of our clients’ data,” says Peter Briggs, president of SafeData, quoted in the press release. “The center also offers 100% power redundancy, protection against environmental elements and fire detection and suppression systems. Additionally, we feel confident that as we continue to grow our client base, the SAVVIS data center has ample room to expand with us.”

SafeData’s services delivered using the Savvis Boston data center include its SafeData/HA high availability service, the SafeData/DR disaster recovery product.

The BO3 data center is one of 23 facilities operated by Savvis, according to the company’s website, which provides a fairly detailed account of its data center services – including downloadable videos and whitepapers – in the data center section of its website.
