(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator Data Centers Canada (www.datacenterscanada.com) announced Tuesday it has opened its Phase 3 data center POD space at its Toronto North facility.
The Phase 3 POD has approximately 125 cabinets with single-cabinet, cabinet clusters and private cage configurations available to customers.
Located 13 miles north of Toronto in Vaughan, the facility is in close proximity to Pearson International Airport and the downtown financial district. The 8,000 square-foot facility was built in 2004.
The Phase 3 data center has a carrier neutral environment, triple layer security with biometric scanning, VESDA and Inergen systems and 2N redundancy, among other features.
A video tour of the facility is hosted on the Data Centers Canada website.
While adhering to The Green Grid’s technologies and methodologies, the facility uses free cooling techniques to reduce energy consumption in controlling climate, along with various power conservation tools such as motion sensitive light switches and low voltage lighting.
Data Centers Canada has 24/7 remote hands support in both its facilities, offering on-site technical assistance and other services.
The new addition reinforces the fact that Toronto has been a notable location for data center construction this year. Peer 1 hosting opened its new flagship facility in Toronto in May, and the WHIR followed the construction to completion in a series of videos on WHIR TV.
