(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Non-profit data center organization Data Center Pulse (www.datacenterpulse.org) announced on Thursday it has enrolled its 1,000th member.
Formed as an exclusive group on LinkedIn in September 2008, Data Center Pulse is a non-profit organization designed for data center professionals and clients to network with one another, influencing the industry through end users.
The milestone brings the DCP community into 45 countries representing over 600 companies in a range of markets, both public and private.
“We knew that there was a gap in the industry, but we were surprised at how quickly the membership grew,” says Dean Nelson, co-founder and chairman of DCP. “Our goal was simple; to create a place that datacenter industry operators could gather to share ideas on best practices and ultimately influence the industry. With the myriad of pressures we are all facing; rising costs, density increases, complexity and new ecological scrutiny; we knew that a collaborative community could prove to be very beneficial.”
According to the press release, DCP members must participate, or be responsible for, at least one of the areas of their company’s data center strategy, architecture/design, operations, efficiency, and sustainability or use.
The organization does not accept enrollment from data center professionals and clients whose primary jobs are in sales, marketing, PR, consulting or business development.
DCP members evaluate, recommend and purchase the products and services for the data center, passing along this information to the rest of the industry.
