(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center provider Telx (www.telx.com) announced on Monday that it has selected data center infrastructure management software firm FieldView Solutions (www.fieldviewsolutions.com) to reduce energy and cooling consumption in its data centers.

According to the press release, Telx is using the Web-based data center software within four of its facilities to deploy expansions quickly and cost-efficiently.

“My team relies on FieldView as part of our operations budget planning due to its detailed reports on long-term power consumption,” Michael Terlizzi, executive vice president of operations for Telx said in a statement. “In addition, our high-demand data centers in New York, New Jersey and Chicago must scale quickly to support increased demand from service providers, cloud computing providers, financial services firms and enterprises. With FieldView’s help, my operations team can now handle — with a few clicks of a mouse — what used to require hours of resources.”

FieldView says its real-time view into all aspects of data center infrastructure helped Telx optimize its data centers in New York City, Clifton, New Jersey and Chicago, Illinois.

According to the press release, FieldView helped Telx through multiple expansions at these locations while monitoring and managing power load, energy consumption and data center cooling requirements. Telx announced a second expansion to its Clifton data center in May.

“Telx is achieving optimized, mission-critical facilities quickly and cost-effectively with FieldView’s real-time data center management capabilities,” said David Schirmacher, Chief Strategy Officer of FieldView Solutions. “We are pleased that Telx has already achieved greater control over the resources required for data center operations, as well as planning consumption requirements for the expansion of their business.”

Telx says FieldView has helped it handle future capacity planning when new square footage is added to its Cloud Connection and Interconnection centers.
