Data Center firm e-shelter has built more than 850,000 square feet of data center space, and has nearly 650,000 square feet of construction planned.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Frankfurt-based data center operator e-shelter (www.e-shelter.com) announced Wednesday it has appointed Dr. Sebastian Brandis chief operating officer.
Brandis has 15 years of experience in the industry, and offers expertise in general management, sales, product management, customer operations, IT and professional services to e-shelter’s growth plans.
“The demand for data center space has increased enormously in recent years due to rising data volumes. This demand comes not only from businesses, but also from private users who are increasingly requiring data intensive, Web-based applications,” said chief executive officer of e-shelter Rupprecht Rittweger. “This key appointment reflects the growth plans for e-shelter facility services as we continue to improve and build secure accommodation for our customers’ IT infrastructure and network systems. We are delighted that Dr. Brandis has accepted this new position and believe the experience he will bring to our management team will be invaluable.”
Recently, Brandis was chief operating officer for the German division of British Telecom (www.bt.com).
Prior to BT, Brandis was a management consultant for government consultancy Booz Allen Hamilton (www.boozallen.com) and worked for mobile communications firm Viag Interkom, which is now O2 (www.o2.com).
He studied physics and philosopy at the University of Bonn, received his master’s degree in theoretical physics from Cambridge University and a PhD in the same area at the University of Hamburg.
Founded in 2000, e-shelter has locations in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich with its headquarters in Frankfurt.
The company has built more than 850,000 square feet of data center space, and has nearly 650,000 square feet of construction planned.
It is developing new locations in Zurich and London. The 118,000-square-foot Zurich data center is slated for completion in 2011.
