Data Center Monitoring and IT Service Management Provider AccelOps Opens Office in China

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In an effort to expand its operations into China, Silicon Valley-based integrated data center monitoring provider AccelOps (www.accelops.net) has opened its first office in Shanghai.

Affording to its Wednesday announcement, the Shanghai office will be staffed by an initial 25 new employees, mainly engineers and software developers, to provide additional resources for extending and customizing the AccelOps data center monitoring platform. The team will also assess the Chinese data center market requirements to prepare for the localization and eventual introduction of AccelOps’ products in China and other regions of Asia.

“China is an ideal environment for us, both for its large pool of top engineering talent and the strategic IT market opportunity it presents,” AccelOps chief executive officer Imin Lee said in a statement. “You must have a global mind set to be extremely successful in business today, and eventually China will be one third of the world’s economy.”

Originally from Chinese, Lee came to the US in the 1980s to study and work. With knowledge of the intricacies of China’s business and popular culture, economy, and relationship with the US, Lee is well positioned to pursue the Chinese marketplace, which is very attractive, but there are several distinguishing market factors. For instance, the Internet in China is pervasive, however, the primary user device is the mobile phone rather than the computer.

“Even now, the sheer size of China and the number of people using Internet and telecom services creates gigantic data centers,” she said. “Since there is no IT infrastructure legacy in China, these data centers make extensive use of cloud computing and are also leading edge. They need a fully integrated, next-generation data center and IT service management solution like AccelOps.”
