(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Modular data center firm IO announced on Tuesday that it has been awarded a multi-module contract with Australian data center and cloud services provider Red Cloud

This announcement comes two weeks after IO launched IO OS, its new data center operating system as a stand-alone software product.

IO says this strategic move means the companies will work together to promote IO Anywhere modular data center platform in Australasia.

According to the press release IO will provide Red Cloud with IO Anywhere power and data modules and the IO OS to centrally manage Red Cloud’s modular data center infrastructure across Australasia.

“IO’s modular technology will provide a foundation for our Australasian data center and cloud computing services,” Garry Henley, CEO of Red Cloud said in a statement. “With IO, capacity is not only delivered rapidly, but we will also be able to control efficiency, utilization and operating costs of our entire infrastructure using the capabilities of IO OS. This partnership provides us with the next-generation data center infrastructure to rapidly drive our business.”

Multiple modules are delivered directly to Red Cloud’s sites in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Red Cloud says its Melbourne and Perth locations are expected to be live in the second quarter of 2012 with Sydney following close behind. Red Cloud’s IO deployments will be delivered to Tier III standards.
