(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In his presentation “Unleash Your Potential”, Mark Payne, VP of EMEA industry standard servers at HP looked at the emerging trends in data center design and HP’s move towards a converged intrastructure model.
HP has put considerable focus on the converged IT infrastucture, having unveiled last November its Converged Infrastructure Architecture vision.
This approach helps create a virtualized, on-demand data center with a set of related services and partner offerings.
Payne emphasized the need for businesses to differentiate through a converged infrastructure, bringing together the components of storage, servers, network, management software, and power and cooling technolgies.
In order to build a converged intrastructure, Payne says a company must be virtualized, resilient, orchestrated, optimized, and modular.
He also pointed out that businesses shouldbuild an IT infrastructure for only what they need, build and rebuilt pods, scale up and then out, build density zones, and consider using multi-tier designs.
Halfway through the presentation, Payne shifted the focus from HP to highlight its partnerships with other technology developers.
Payne then introduced Peter Gradwell, whose web hosting business encountered problems with its platform 14 months ago.
After switching over its platform over to HP, including an HP LeftHand P4000 Virtualization SANs, he said his company was able to resolve these issues.
