C&W Supports Marks & Spencer E-Business

January 29, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Global telecommunications group Cable & Wireless (CW.com) announced on Wednesday that it has signed a new agreement with retailer Marks & Spencer for the hosting of the company’s 600 Web-based applications in conjunction with Marks & Spencer’s new data center.

The Cable & Wireless Internet solutions data center in Swindon, which already hosts marksandspencer.com, says the company, will operate seamlessly with Marks & Spencer’s data center to create a flexible communications platform. The combined effort will improve the speed and performance of the company’s business processes.

The two facilities are already connected, along with 312 Marks & Spencer stores, via a Cable & Wireless IP virtual private network. C&W can now expand the entire end-to-end infrastructure to meet Marks & Spencer’s requirements, applying QoS functionality to support multiple voice, data and video applications.
