C&W Provides Services to UBS Warburg

September 5, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Global telecommunications group Cable & Wireless (CW.com) announced on Thursday that it has signed a three-year communications contract, worth more than $40 million, with investment banking operation UBS Warburg.

The agreement, says C&W, is an addition to an existing hosting contract established through Digital Island, which Cable & Wireless acquired in 2001, building on that deal with a set of integrated communications and e-commerce services.

C&W says the deal came out of UBS Warburg?s strategy for streamlining its telecommunications suppliers into a small number of strategic relationships in an effort to achieve reduced telecommunications costs, improved service levels, easier management of supplier relations, the global rollout of new technologies and expanded service offerings to its customers.

Cable & Wireless will provide UBS Warburg with a package of voice and data services, including ATM and frame relay, leased lines and Internet access, to UBS Warburg?s offices in approximately 20 countries. During the course of the three-year contract, UBS Warburg plans to migrate to a converged communication solution based on IP VPN technology.
