August 19, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Telecommunications provider Cable & Wireless (CW.com) announced on Monday that it has been placed in the “Leaders” quadrant of research organization Gartner?s 2002 European Web Hosting Magic Quadrant, based on “Ability to Execute” and “Completeness of Vision.”
C&W says its strong position in the European Web hosting market has been achieved largely through the acquisition of several leading European IP and data businesses in the past two years. The acquisitions, says the company, have raised C&W?s profile in nine European countries, and the most recent acquisitions of Digital Island and Exodus have strengthened this position.
According to C&W, Gartner?s Magic Quadrant report is a graphical description of vendor performance in a particular market, and includes the four quadrants Niche Players, Visionaries, Challengers and Leaders. The Leader quadrant represents vendors that are performing well, have a clear vision and are building competencies to sustain their position.
