cPanel will launch its certification program at its conference in October
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting control panel developer cPanel (www.cpanel.com) announced on Wednesday that it has released the details of its new certification program, cPanel University.
This program comes less than a week after the WHIR received images of an upcoming refresh to the software from an anonymous source.
According to the press release, cPanel spent 12 months developing the program by evaluating, training and certifying tests. Set to launch at its upcoming conference in Austin in October, cPanel says the program will involve a examination and training process that employees and employers to evaluate cPanel skill levels.
“cPanel University will challenge the skills of those taking the exams, and reward those who pass with the confidence of knowing they have a solid understanding of cPanel’s software,” technical product specialist David Grega, cPanel said in a statement.
cPanel says its certification involves two programs: sales and technical. The technical certification consists of seven levels while the sales program has ten levels, according to cPanel.
According to the press release, the first three levels of each program will be publicly available to all registered cPanel conference attendees.
Additional training will be made available in various locations around the world beginning in the first quarter of 2012.
cPanel says the testing process is not for those unfamiliar with cPanel, and the software that is used to test participants requires a 90 percent in order to pass. The exams are timed, and include open essay questions scored by cPanel in-house experts.
cPanel hopes to make the program a regular part of its conference, and plans to extend cPanel University training by travelling to corporate offices in 2012.
