CoSentry Opens Fourth Data Center in Nebraska

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center and managed services provider CoSentry (www.cosentry.com) announced on Thursday it has opened its fourth data center in Papillion, Nebraska.

The Midlands Data Center is a 68,000-square-foot Tier IV facility that is designed to withstand 250 mph winds and deliver less than 6 seconds of downtime per year.

The Midlands facility was designed by George Morrissey, president and CEO of data center design firm Morrissey Engineering.

“Midlands was designed as the next generation of data centers,” says Mike Steffan, president and CEO of CoSentry. “These data centers must balance extreme density computing environments with the economic requirements to be as energy efficient as possible. They also are designed to meet business performance goals which require the resiliency to withstand the region’s most extreme weather conditions and power disruptions.”

According to the press release, the data center design addresses dual power grids, energy efficient cooling, LEED standards and tornado proof construction.

The facility features multiple layers of physical and logical security, including the latest technology from Cisco Systems.

Now in operation, the new data center will add another level of service to CoSentry’s customers, which is comprised of major utility companies, large ecommerce firms, transportation firms and financial organizations.

The new center is considered a green data center and was designed to meet LEED Silver Certification criteria, as it includes several energy saving and efficiency features.

The company’s other data centers are located in Omaha, Kansas City, and Sioux Falls.
