Cloud computing and data center services provider Cosentry announced on Tuesday its new Ion cloud services, which include virtual private data center service Ion CloudX, server monitoring service Ion Guard, and managed DNS service Ion DNS.

The Ion cloud service will be available to clients on March 15, and Cosentry says the pillar of its new service is orchestration layer that allows clients to automatically provision enterprise-class, secure virtual private data centers, create as many new virtual servers as they like, and scale, resize and backup within seconds.

Cosentry tapped 8×8 at the end of January for Vblock products from VCE and the 8×8 Zerigo provisioning, management and billing platform. The new Ion cloud services appear to be the culmination of the partnership.

“There are a number of industry offers that might appear similar at first glance,” Dustin Trager, director of cloud services for Cosentry said in a statement. “But behind the flashy provisioning software, they don’t actually have a solid infrastructure or a true automatic zero-touch configuration. With Ion Cloud Services you get both, in addition to an orchestration layer that makes provisioning your virtual private data center take minutes, not hours. We know that this service is going to make waves in the industry, but it’s what our clients have been requesting.”

Its infrastructure is located primarily in Cosentry’s network of data centers across the Midwest, but according to a FAQ on its website, ION CloudX virtual data center’s are only offered in its Lenexa, Kansas data center, so it may be rolling out the offering to its other data centers soon, or is using its other data centers for backup.

The launch of its new cloud services comes a few weeks after Cosentry named Aaron Hite national director of professional services and consulting to lead the growth of its resource teams that support clients.
