(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Designed to help companies transition to developing public or private clouds or in their development of new cloud applications and products, CloudCommunity is a new initiative from data center provider CoreSite (www.coresite.com) to provide members with data center space, power, connectivity and other variables that create a truly “live,” multi-regional, interconnected environment.
According to its Monday announcement, CoreSite’s CloudCommunity provides a live test environment for companies’ cloud computing efforts at the company’s Bay Area data center in Milpitas and Los Angeles data center at 900 N. Alameda, as well as a forum to share innovation and thought leadership to help mold the future of computing, storage and communications. Free for participants, CloudCommunity provides physical space, power and cooling, peering and transit through CoreSite’s Any2 Internet exchange, up to 100MBPS per region of bandwidth courtesy of InfoRelay, and the use of the MyCoreSite online portal.
A focal point of the new community will be the forum where Web professionals can meet and exchange ideas, and become introduced to new companies. This means that organizations testing applications and platforms outside of corporate-controlled environments and LANs, can at the same time network with some of the industry’s leading organizations that can help in deploying cloud technology as intelligently as possible.
“We have commissioned our cloud-based testing framework and began testing in March 2010,” said Dave Clark, head of grid computing solutions provider Red Peak Solutions (www.redpeaksolutions.com). “We are excited to see the results from this program and look forward to playing a significant role in the thought leadership forum.”
CloudCommunity membership is limited and will be addressed on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested should contact CoreSite as soon as possible.
