(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation and managed services provider CoreLink Data Centers (www.corelink.com) announced on Wednesday that it has relocated its headquarters from Phoenix, Arizona to the Chicago suburb of Mount Prospect, Illinois, at the same time announcing the opening of its new 80,000 square-foot Chicago data center, also located in Mt. Prospect.
The new Chicago data center, says CoreLink, is a standalone facility located on 5.4 acres of land, and will offer all of the company’s data center solutions. According to the company, the facility incorporates a range of new security and management technologies, including biometric scanners, diverse Internet connections, redundant power equipment and modern fire detection and suppression systems.
“We are very pleased to have moved our head office to such a strategic and vibrant area of business and technology,” said Geoff Hampson, CEO of CoreLink Data Centers, quoted in the press release. “Our sizable investment at our new Chicago data center will have a significant impact on the local economy through job creation and capital investment in the community.”
The new Chicago facility extends the company’s capacity to provide customers with a range of colocation services that includes cabinets, cages and private suites. It has a total power capacity of 16MW, and has 10MW of 2N UPS power, N+1 cooling and redundancy on all its other critical systems, says CoreLink.
Just last week, the company announced that it had completed an expansion of its Phoenix data center, bringing the facility’s capacity to 500kW.
The expansion extends the company’s national footprint to include Las Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle and Chicago.
