Colocation provider Continuum Data Centers announced on Thursday it has completed the SSAE 16 standard audit at its Lombard, Illinois data center.

By meeting this standard, Continuum is providing its customers the assurance they require when selecting a data center and colocation expert.

Located in the Chicago suburbs, the 21,000 square foot data center provides colocation services backed by a 99.97 percent service level agreement.

Governed by the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the SSAE 16 attestation standard replaced the legacy SAS70 industry standard.

The attestation process validates the internal controls of organizations including data center operators based on the company’s technology, business processes, physical security and infrastructure.

As explained in a recent WHIR feature, SSAE 16 is more or less synonymous with SOC 1, and are specific to financial reporting.

Data Centers Canada recently achieved SSAE 16 compliance at its Toronto North Data Center.

“We are extremely pleased to have completed the SSAE 16 audit,” said Tom Chaffin, Managing Partner of Continuum Data Centers. “We continually remain focused on giving our customers the assurance that Continuum follows critical policies and procedures for data redundancy, network redundancy, security and service reliability, all of which have been audited by an external third-party SSAE 16 auditing firm.”

Customers can choose from a number of PCI and HIPAA compliant cabinet environments and options to meet their unique business requirements. Access to cabinets is strictly controlled per a customer’s Authorized Control List. All cabinet options are 100% private and secure.
