(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Scheduled to open within the month, Chicago colocation provider Continuum Data Centers’ (www.continuumdatacenters.com) new, 20,000-square-foot data center in Lombard, Illinois has chosen fiber-optic connectivity provider AboveNet (www.above.net) to provide its high-bandwidth transport backbone from its Oak Brook, Illinois point of presence.
According to AboveNet’s Wednesday announcement, the Lombard facility is specifically designed for the Chicago suburban colocation market, offering unprecedented service, support and pricing.
“We feel AboveNet is a key ingredient to the success of our data center,” Continuum managing partner Tom Chaffin said in a statement. “AboveNet provides exceptional services and is the backbone of our transport network.” Chaffin also noted that Continuum will be expanding in the upcoming months, including an upgrade to 10Gbps bandwidth.
Providing colocation services to small, medium and Fortune 1000 companies for more than a decade, Continuum created an 86,000-square-foot data center in the Chicago area in 2007, which was bought in August 2008.
AboveNet business development and marketing executive director MaryBeth Nance said AboveNet’s high bandwidth connectivity will help Continuum support its Fortune 1000 customers’ colocation needs. “These Continuum services complement AboveNet’s diverse, low-latency fiber optic connectivity,” Nance said in a statement.
