July 9, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet security software developer Computerized Horizons, developer of the Declude (declude.com) line of email filtering solutions, announced on Friday that it had created a database of IP addresses responsible for transmitting email viruses across the Internet.
Information compiled in the database is being used to create the Multiple Threat Lookup Database, which is available to all Declude JunkMail customers. Emails that send spam will be cross-referenced against the database and weighted accordingly using the Declude JunkMail product, helping fight the emerging problem of spam containing malicious worms, viruses or trojans.
“Our decision to collect the source IP address was made because the IP addresses are the only component of spam that cannot be forged,” says Barry Simpson, chief executive officer of Computerized Horizons. “The database is scalable, operates in real-time and in the future can be configured to address other spam issues such as ‘phishing’.”
Computerized Horizons is the developer of Declude JunkMail, Declude Virus and Declude Hijack email filtering solutions.
