Comodo Releases SSL Authentication Product

July 25, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Comodo (comodogroup.com) announced today the release of their Verification Engine (vengine.com) product, which gives consumers the ability to verify the authenticity and identity of InstantSSL Certificates displayed on Web sites.

The company says Verification Engine will eliminate the possibility of spoof Web sites and faked SSL Certificates, a growing problem on the Internet.

Mousing over the padlock iron, which signifies the presence of an encrypted link via SSL certificate and appears in the status bar of the browser, allows the user to see the details of the validity of the certificate. This feature is reinforced by the appearance of a green border outside the browser that similarily confirms authenticity.

Verification Engine is available free of charge.
